Tyla’s Vevo Trilogy Is Complete (For Now) and “KISS” Is the Best One

This rollout has been one hell of a ride. Tyla and Vevo just dropped the third video in their exclusive performance series, and “KISS,” from her album A*POP, might be the most visually striking one yet.

Y’all know Tyla has a soft spot in my heart, so I was already going to watch this one twice. But the “KISS” video earns the rewatch on its own. It’s muted and colorful at the same time, which sounds like it shouldn’t work, but the contrast is exactly why it hits.

What Is Vevo’s “Official Live Performance” Series?

“Official Live Performance” is Vevo’s flagship original content franchise. The idea is simple: build immersive, custom worlds where today’s biggest artists perform live, on camera, in visuals designed specifically around their album.

“KISS” is the third installment in Tyla’s run with the series, following “IS IT LOVE” and “SHE DID IT AGAIN.” Vevo describes these productions as the result of real creative collaboration between the network, the artist, and her team, which honestly shows. This isn’t a generic performance clip slapped together for a press cycle. It’s built to connect with Tyla’s global fanbase through visuals tailored to A*POP‘s specific world.

Inside the “KISS” Video: A Total Mood Shift

If “IS IT LOVE” and “SHE DID IT AGAIN” lived in warm sepia tones, “KISS” throws that palette out entirely.

Tyla dances through the space with her band, all of them on layers of rugs, while the lighting swings from bright to dark. Neon speckles hit the instruments and body paint scattered across the performers. By the finale, the whole space is washed in flashes of pink and purple.

When she grinds against the wall it just hypnotizes me into a trance. Her words, her movements. I probably account for 10% of the video plays all by myself.

What Tyla and Vevo Are Saying

Tyla kept it simple about the experience: “I had so much fun making this series! Performing these songs live made me even more excited to share A*POP with the world.”

JP Evangelista, EVP of Content, Programming and Marketing at Vevo, went deeper on why they came back to her:

“After gracing the Vevo DSCVR stage a few years ago, we’re thrilled to be working again with Tyla, this time outside of the studio, to create a unique cinematic interpretation of her album. Connecting with fans across borders, Tyla is redefining what it means to be a global pop star today. She has captivated audiences with her infectious melodies, undeniable charisma, and cultural flair, all of which shine through in her performances. We’re excited to roll out more of the videos in this series, as well as the final short film.”

That last line matters. There’s more of this series coming, plus a short film to close it out.

Between “KISS” and her upcoming tour, Tyla’s not slowing down for a second. This series has been a genuine showcase of what she can do outside the studio, and if the first three videos are any indication, the final short film is going to close things out in a big way.
